iSO is a proud supporter of Opportunity International. Founded 1971, Opportunity International provides small business loans, savings, insurance and training to over 2 million people working their way out of poverty in the developing world. Clients in over 20 countries use these services to start or expand a business, provide for their families, create jobs for their neighbours and build a safety net for the future. Opportunity International Canada is a registered Canadian charity and serves all people regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or gender.
The owners of iSO have committed $150,000 over three years to make a difference in the shantytown of Soledad, a municipality located within the urban reach of the Colombian city of Barranquilla. Soledad (Barranquilla) is home to nearly half a million extremely poor people, many of whom were forced to flee their homes by guerrilla conflicts in other parts of the country. It has high levels of crime and unemployment, primitive dirt roads, and all the problems usually associated with squatter settlements on the margins of Latin America’s cities. There are many hardworking people in this community and all they need is a little help to get them started. A small micro-loan can help start or expand a business, which in turn provides for families, creates jobs and builds a safety net for the future.
Please join iSO to provide opportunities and help this poor community get re-energized and working again. Together we can make a difference!
