The owners of iSO have committed $150,000 over three years to make a difference in the shantytown of Soledad, a municipality located within the urban reach of the Colombian city of Barranquilla. Soledad (Barranquilla) is home to nearly half a million extremely poor people, many of whom were forced to flee their homes by guerrilla conflicts in other parts of the country. It has high levels of crime and unemployment, primitive dirt roads, and all the problems usually associated with squatter settlements on the margins of Latin America’s cities.  There are many hardworking people in this community and all they need is a little help to get them started. A small micro-loan can help start or expand a business, which in turn provides for families, creates jobs and builds a safety net for the future.
